The Power of Connection

I am always grateful when I can connect with others who are of like mind - and Melissa of FabGlance is one of those people. When I reached out to her via her Instagram and we had coffee, we immediately became friends and colleagues (though she is a much more seasoned blogger than I). We recently had the opportunity to chat at City Winery Nashville about our experience as bloggers in Nashville; struggles, triumphs, achieving dreams and goals, and even adversities associated with being Brown Bloggers.

Sometimes when we hit those walls it can seem like no one understands or that it's seemingly impossible to get past it. But if we surround yourself with solid individuals, then the load can seem lighter.

I whole-heartedly believe that we were put on Earth to be in community with others. There is so much going on around us, but we must remember that we have the choice or free will to shape much of our existence. As the saying goes, 'We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control our reaction.' Taken a step further, we should learn to "take control" of who we surround ourselves with. We should spend our time with others who uplift, celebrate, encourage, and share honesty with us. After all, time is the only commodity that we cannot get back.

Now.. we weren't all serious! When you get creatives together with a great meal (courtesy of City Winery Nashville) and throw a camera in the mix and you have a recipe for a great time! Check out the pics shot by Patrick Webster and leave a comment below! Who are you grateful in your life?
