The Art Deco Affair with the Frist Art Museum

I am forever grateful for the connections and the relationships that I am building here in Music City. But I will say that I was especially excited about this opportunity when it came to me. This year, I was asked to serve on the Frist Art Museum Art Deco Affair Host Committee - and it was AWESOME.

What is this affair you ask? Each year the Frist Art Museum hosts a fundraiser for the upkeep of the building. The interior of the museum is furnished with amazing art deco detailing that takes a great deal of maintenance. A few years ago, the museum decided that they would begin planning a fundraiser geared towards young professionals and since then it has grown to welcome a continually growing attendee base. But not only that, all guests are encouraged to don their best Gatsby themed garb.

Upon entering, you were greeted by a mood lit grand hall with beautiful table decorations and interior that did not disappoint. The art deco aesthetic was felt throughout the night and further realized as you listened to the big band-style music. It truly felt like a departure from modernity which, to me, was a welcomed and refreshing portion of my week.

At the event, guests were treated to art tours of the current works housed in the museum, an amazing spread of hors d’oeuvres and drinks, and music from DJ Aydamn. We danced, took a ton of photos, met up with friends, and enjoyed the space. I am looking forward to attending again and hopefully serving once more on the host committee!

I will have to admit - when I first was asked to take part in this event, I had no idea what I was going to wear. But I knew that I wanted it to be amazing. I was speaking with a friend and explained to him what the event was. I then said that I would have worn a seersucker suit had it been a day party, but since it was an evening affair, I was at a loss. He then suggested a similar suit and after seeing it, I was sold. I landed on this Black Seersucker Tuxedo from Brooks Brothers and could not have been happier with how it turned out. Tuxedo stripe down the leg and satin peak lapels were the perfect compliment for the night - and for a long time to come. I am excited to wear it again and again. Now who has another event that they are inviting me to before it gets too cold?!

I was also excited to partner with Gent Street for this special event. I got to wear their gun metal grey dice cufflinks that added the perfect detail for my Gatsby inspired look! Check them out below and use the code EJL25 for 25% off your purchase!
