Relax Into Your Style

Call it hipster or whatever you’d like, but the workwear-inspired items have been catching my attention. I love the subtle details that they can bring about and the concept of mixing them with more “polished” items.

Today’s update features this linen chore jacket that I picked up from J.Crew a few weeks back. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite items to incorporate into my looks. It’s lightweight and the color easily wears well with many things that I already own.I decided to pair this with a simply v-neck shirt also from J.Crew, a slim denim from Levi’s, and some saddle shoes from Cole Haan. Accessories wise, I have my trusty LLBean tote in camo with my monogram and a few bracelets.

I have been trying to take a more relaxed outlook on my style. For many years, I have been stuck in pieces looking “perfect.” Now, we all know that perfect is an ambiguous and subjective term, but I was hell-bent on achieving it. I have spoken with several guys who say that want to achieve their perfect looks everyday. I always reassure them that perfection is not likely to happen, but rather work within what makes them feel good. That being said, fit, proportion, style, and those types of matters are all pertinent, but if you don't feel good in it and about yourself, it does not matter.

Solid v-necks are a great way to stay cool while looking cool in the summer months. Throwing a lightweight jacket on top, such as this one, is an easy way to add a bit more polish or even cover up some “imperfections” (if you’re anything like me). But remember, don't get so uptight about it - have fun and do what makes you feel good.
